Race type: Time trial
Location: Prees
Date: 13 May, 2018
From Simon Higgins
The Century time-trialists today took on the Mid-Shrops Wh ‘50’ on the rather lumpy D50/4 course today, 4 laps of 12.5 miles (and including 3 times over the Prees by-pass hill!). For those that know it, this is basically 4 laps of the 12-hour finishing circuit. It’s undoubtedly harder than the usual Prees ‘50’ circuit on D50/1, but in some ways it’s more fun; challenging twisty country lanes, quite good road surfaces and not too much traffic, unlike D50/1. We narrowly missed the team prize (I suspect Phoenix won this yet again, in spite of so many of their riders being in Majorca), but there were some cracking times:
Chris Finnan did 2:2:30-ish, I managed 2:3:11, Colin Hayes did 2:3:50-odd, Chris Reynolds did a 2:4-something, Kate did a 2:12-something, and Philip had a bit of a nightmare with a 2:18-ish (officially)- my photo fo the results board is blurred. I got a course best by almost 2 minutes so I’m fairly happy with that; if my Garmin hadn’t decided to abandon me and start a ‘GPS firmware update’ (which it never finished) after 3.38 miles, I might have gone better!
