April Update of LCCA news from Alan Yates.
The season has just got started for Academy youth riders with Dan Cosgrove winning at Rhyl, Thomas Purcell appearing at the Mossley Early Birds and the Dolans at Southport starting in March with Evie Field, Dan Cosgrove, Molly and Lewis Linford, Harry Roberts and Thomas Purcell putting in good rides.
Meanwhile our Juniors have started with Eze and Thomas S in the Eddie Soens and the Pimbo on 9th and 10th March.
Once again our anchor event is going to be the trip to the Sleepwells Hotel Isle of Man youth and junior tour which is part of British Cycling Junior National Road series and the Youth Circuit Series on the bank holiday weekend of the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May this year.. This will build on last year’s fantastic trip and what we learned from it.
This is a very well organised set of three races, two of which are held on closed roads with marshal cars and support motorbikes – a great experience for any youngster who has not done this before. The Academy uses its sponsorship money to finance the trip for the riders with parents paying for themselves.
We have 10 riders from Youth C to Junior riding and our travel, minibus and accommodation are all booked. Ellen Isherwood is coming to photograph our riders again and John Wych from BC is coming with us too. Andy Bennett, Club Coach, is planning to come to prepare and support our riders. It should be a tremendous experience as long as we get the weather again.
